Chapter 8
Where Do We Start?

The two types of design, flow and stock, display an enormous power. Design is fascinating; it sees into the motivations of ordinary people, draws them in, and creates a huge tide in society. It could also push this nation into war.
Design can implement a society that is kind to the disabled and educates the children of poor families.
Both design and scissors need to be handled properly.
But reality is before our eyes.
The flow work with its strict budgets and payment deadlines is all that increases. Stock design with its benefits for society is only completed by volunteer work.
But here I want you to think back.

Flow and stock are connected to each other, and form a cycle. In flow, there must be a line of flow connected with stock. We must find this line of flow. If we do, we must leave a signpost there.
←Sustainability 50m
←Community 60m
←Diversity 70m
This is what the signpost says.
Even in the midst of flow work, there is just a little of these three destinations mixed in.
I am currently involved with some city planning. In the best district of the city center, a large and beautiful area will be created. In the midst of the flow work, the high-class offices and homes that marketing requires, the planned commercial establishments, I placed a small signpost. It is a stock signpost for accepting diversity and nurturing good community.
While creating short-term profit, I intentionally plant seeds for the future.
This will cause differentiation from other cities and affect the market. We can surely create great cities with a cycle of flow and stock going around and around, connected to each other.
A little stock produces new flow, and from there, the next stock expands. Happiness Design is in sight.
